AIR JAMAICA RETURNS TO ANTIGUA
WITH NEW NON-STOP SERVICE STARTING JUNE 20TH

KINGSTON, Jamaica (February 5, 2002) – Starting June 20, 2002, Air Jamaica will re-introduce non-stop service to Antigua from New York’s JFK International Airport and will offer direct service from the airline’s Montego Bay hub.

“We are very excited about re-entering Antigua. As part of the Caribbean community, we take tourism very seriously and at the heart of all of our actions is the common goal of growing tourism throughout the region. This is an important venture, not only for Air Jamaica but for the people and government of Antigua who depend on fast, convenient and reliable airlift to bring tourism to the island,” said Air Jamaica Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Allen Chastanet.

Commenting on Antigua’s history of challenges in getting non-stop air service out of New York, Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Minister Molwyn Joseph noted that he was very pleased to welcome Air Jamaica to Antigua and recognized the importance of this development to the island.

“At Air Jamaica we strive to provide the finest and most comprehensive service to the Caribbean available. Growth and expansion, especially in the Eastern Caribbean, are a major part of our business, and we couldn’t be happier to once again offer service to the beautiful island of Antigua,” continued Chastanet.

The new service will commence on June 20, 2002 and will operate three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays from JFK International Airport and the Montego Bay Hub.

Air Jamaica will operate the route with its state-of-the-art Airbus A320, which seats 12 first class passengers and 177 economy class passengers.

Air Jamaica is the proud winner of the coveted Five Star Diamond Award, a distinction that ranks it among the top airlines of the world, and for the fourth consecutive year, was named “Best Airline to the Caribbean” at the 8th Annual World Travel Awards.

With over 30 years of service and the most modern fleet servicing the region, Air Jamaica has pursued a steady program of expansion opening up more areas of the U.S. and the United Kingdom to the Caribbean. Air Jamaica has scheduled service with 330 direct flights a week from Atlanta, Baltimore/Washington, Boston, Chicago, Ft. Lauderdale, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, New York (JFK), Orlando, and Philadelphia in the U.S. and from London, UK to Montego Bay and Kingston in Jamaica, and to Barbados, Bonaire, Curaçao, Grand Cayman, Grenada, Havana, Nassau, Providenciales, Santo Domingo and St. Lucia. Air Jamaica provides more non-stop flights from its North American gateways to the Caribbean than any other carrier serving the region. In addition, the airline’s code share agreement with Delta Air Lines, and its joint fare arrangements and compatible schedules with United, and other U.S. carriers, extend its access to over 150 cities within the Continental U.S.
